Reading is the most important thing we can do in 2nd grade. My students need to read every single day yet many do not have any books at home. I need to maximize instructional time in class and have my kids read these books at their appropriate level. When they read at their level they grow in confidence and learn to love reading. If books are too difficult they become frustrated and withdraw. We need just the right reading level books to challenge them yet make them feel confident. I can access every student and have them read their appropriate leveled book.
