I teach fourth grade in a K-4 elementary school in Greenfield Massachusetts. Although many children in our school are from low income families, or have a history of trauma, they enter our school ready to learn when provided with the right tools. Our district is a Title 1 district that offers additional support in the areas of Reading and Math. Each day, students that need to practice math or reading skills receive additional support outside of the classroom. Throughout the year, this support provides students with the opportunity to gain proficiency in the targeted areas. Our school provides all children with a free breakfast and lunch. Each morning, students have a healthy breakfast in the classroom as they connect with friends. After breakfast, we have morning meeting where we greet each other, share, and then play an activity. Afterwards, it's time to get into our flexible seating and get ready to learn!
