We will use these books for Free and Voluntary Reading. The students will pick out books to read that interest them and read on their own, for just several minutes at a time at first. With these books, the students will have a variety of "easy" books to choose from, helping them to feel successful even in the beginning levels. Having reading materials in Spanish helps them acquire the language, learn new vocabulary and culture, and increases proficiency. It will also improve their reading ability in English! I will incorporate Free and Voluntary Reading every day at the start of our classes. By creating a Novice Spanish Library in class, even the lowest level reader will find a book he or she can read!
