We already use a variety of tools to teach alphabet recognition, number sense, handwriting and pre-reading skills. These tablets will not only provide many extensions to these topics, but they will do so in a way that will grab the kids' attention. We do not have reliable working computers which makes these tablets invaluable to my students. I have at least seven students who speak English as a second language and three more who have developmental delays, all of whom will benefit from apps especially designed for this population. They will also give students practice in sharing, working together and taking turns.
