Our first unit is "Know Thyself," this novel is about a high school freshman that enters a large high school and struggles to find himself. Throughout the story, the main character faces many obstacles that many of my students will encounter. This text will provide an excellent avenue for discussion on relevant issues and will hopefully help students connect with this book and in turn, instill a love of reading. Through out the reading of this book, students will gain not only an understanding of who they are but will also be better equipped to handle the many obstacles that they will face through out their high school tenure.
