Over the years, I've had many middle school students complain that they "hate" reading and that it's "boring." It's not easy to hook students into something they've already given up on. But my experience has taught me that there are books out there for everyone and when exposed to the right book, a student's life can be transformed. My goal is to help my students find those books that are right for them! In order to discover what reading can do to enhance their lives, my 7th grade students need a diverse library of books at their fingertips. Many students love to read books that connect with their own lives. Others like to escape from real life through fantasy, mystery or science fiction. Still others love to read and learn more informational texts with topics such as sports, crime scene investigation, and world travel. My students will be expected to have an independent reading book at all times as they will have class time to enjoy them and will be allowed to bring them home to read. I strongly believe that the more a student reads, the better they'll perform in all aspects of their lives. I need your help to enhance the lives of my 7th grade students!
