With the implementation of the new Tennessee State Science Standards, students will be required to develop various models this year. For example, students must construct and develop a model that will help identify and explain the function of cell organelles. Students will also be creating a model to depict the cycling of matter through an ecosystem. Along with these examples, there will be many other models created in this year's 7th and 8th grade science class. We will be using a large amount of clay and modeling compound to mimick different cell organelles. The clay can also be used by students to show how the cell divides during mitosis. The yarn will be used as a cell membrane and cell wall. The beads and toothpicks can be used by students to show chromosomes within a cell. There are also many other ways that these supplies will be used in my Science class. Having the proper materials is a must when it comes to developing and creating these models. I don't want there to be any supply limitations once the students start their creations! I want their opportunities to be endless!
