These tablets will allow for more students to have access to an electronic device in our school library. The librarian will use the Best Apps provided by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) to teach and foster students learning of innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration. For example, the Flipgrid or Pixie App provides a collaborative community of learners where they can share their learning by recording videos of retelling stories, Booktalks, and presenting projects. These videos can be uploaded into another wonderful program called, "SeeSaw" which is an electronic portfolio that can only be viewed by the teacher and parents of each student. As the school year goes by the students and parents will have a collection of their child's work to admire and celebrate at the end of the school year! Coding is a popular and important skill being taught in the school system. We currently have one Ozobot Robot for students to program in the library. During stationary activities, students can record their Ozobot projects using their tablets. Students can enjoy playing program games such as "Bloxels" where students can create video games by creating characters and applying their problem solving skills to develop games. Most importantly, these devices will allow for more students to take Accelerated Reader tests to help promote more reading fluency and comprehension growth! The possibilities are endless with all that we can do using these tablet devices in the library. Your generous donation will provide technology opportunities for all students to stay actively engaged and allow for students to explore, analyze, construct, and problem solve many activities using these important tools that are highly needed in our school library.
