The use of graphic novels as book choices has increased drastically in my classroom over the past few years. My most reluctant readers have to wait their turn to have access to the small number of graphic novels in my classroom library. They gravitate to the less-intimidating books. They feel more comfortable using the illustrations to aid in their comprehension of the palatable amount of text on each page. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student interest and enjoyment with regard to text, you will ultimately help to increase my students' reading comprehension and fluency. My reluctant readers will be able to enjoy their time on text, and will comprehend and retain a much greater percentage of the text as they will not have to rely solely on the text for meaning.
