I'm changing a mindset... Students in our classroom are struggling readers and writers. Many have not yet connected reading with success and this is where I come in. I work with my seventh and eighth graders to help them become citizens of the world prepared to take on the challenges it faces. I encourage independence and strength and help them to understand that it is indeed up to them whether they succeed or fail - not their circumstances. When students can read and process information with their personal views and opinions a part of the analysis, they can do anything. I'm trying to help my students understand that they are in charge of their future and their fate... Hard work will get them there.
