This year my focuses are phonics and reading, of course, and science (STEM). I want to really encourage a love for reading in my students by promoting an atmosphere of creativity and imagination through the stories read aloud, books selected for guided reading, and independent reading at home. I have selected several interesting books for my students in this project as well as a subscription to Scholastic News and Science Spin. The Cubelets will assist with my coding day of activities, each week I teach a lesson on coding, this will provide an even more engaging and rewarding way for students to see that coding actually works to program computers and robots to complete a task, beyond talking about it or doing seeing someone else do it. They also help me continue to support our growth in STEM. All of the books will be the official start of my classroom library and are books of interest and are parallel with my students current reading levels. The Chromebook will help with serving as an additional technology resource so that all students can actively engage in technology usage. Technology is a huge piece of my classroom; it is used throughout the course of the day, every day. With this Chromebook, students will be able to engage in fun assignments and lessons. It will help to enhance our educational game competitions we have. Students will be able to easily begin learning how to conduct research, learn the basics of Chrome book usage, Microsoft Word functionalities, and begin typing tutorials. My class will be able to independently complete accelerated reader quizzes. As well as practice skills during their computer block, among other things. With this Chrome book, I will be able to accomplish the evidence-based technology integration classroom ideals. The sky is the limit!
