I see small groups of students for literacy interventions, and whole class groups for more traditional library programming every day in our school library. This wonderful learning setting has been unused for several years, and is now being transformed into a learning lab that kids are really loving. In order for our students to obtain maximum benefit from the school library, some supplies are needed to help them begin to self-navigate in that environment. The magazine racks are required to help organize reading material so that students can easily find what they are looking for quickly. Supply bins are needed for individual tables so that materials are always readily available thus increasing instructional time. And carpet squares provide defined individual seating spaces that will help students (especially our youngest) know their place in the learning environment. When you only see students once or twice a week, every teaching moment counts!
