Whenever students have hands-on materials they are able to take charge of their own learning. The information becomes more concrete and makes learning more fun! Students can use kinesthetic, visual, and even auditory senses to help engage all parts of their body for learning! Would you want to sit and do worksheets all day? No! Neither do 5-6 year olds! These materials will allow students to work in groups and learn problem solving skills, partnership skills, and sharing. It will help students engage in STEM learning and they will begin to bring cross curricular skills into their work time. Many times they will think they are playing but they are building their knowledge in a fun and exciting way! Pattern blocks, gear builders, and slot together snowflakes will help enhance group work and ingenuity in the classroom. The whiteboards and erasers will help complete a class set so each student can have their own mobile workspace. Will will use these in multiple areas around the classroom through all subjects. The dice, pocket charts, sentence strips, wikki stix, geoboards, and pop and add games will be added to math and literacy centers to keep learning fun, hands on, and exciting!
