Drone technology is fascinating and engaging. Middle school students respond very well to lessons that contain activities that pique their interest. They will never know that they are actually doing work as they fly drones on the soccer field and collect data to analyze as they study kinetic and potential energy. Class sizes are generally between 20-25 students, so providing 8 drones will allow for groups of 3 or less, which is an ideal number for group experiments and activities. Each student will have an opportunity to fly their group drone while others collect speed and distance data to graph and analyze. I can't wait myself for this lesson!!
