Having flexible seating options in my learning support classroom will help my students focus more on their academics, and less on their disability. Since most of my students are diagnosed with ADHD or have Emotional/Autistic needs, they are in need of sensory stimulation. The chair bands will be specifically for my students with ADHD so they are able to fidget without distracting others, as well as stay on task. The wobble stools and Balls are for any student in need in my classroom that may need sensory stimulation or sensory breaks. Having flexible seating in the classroom will help my students better focus on their learning. Most of my students are on 2nd and 3rd grade reading levels. My goal this year is to prepare them for middle school next year, but I cannot do this with other disabilities impeding on their learning. Research has shown that flexible seating options leads to better performance.
