Currently, we have only enough computers to support 2/3 of the students in our class. The learning in AP computer science relies on real-time feedback on writing code as the first step to learning to think in the kinds of algorithms that run our world. With additional laptops, we'll be able to offer more of our students better access to the lab learning model we employ: students watch as code is run, then cement this as they alter and tinker with the code to make it their own. Although there are some times we'll be doing pair programming, it is vital to have students practice on their own to build confidence and mastery of their coding skills.
