I am wanting to bring as much science into our classroom as I can, all while reinforcing our language arts practice of reading, writing, and comprehending. Scholastic News is a great, fun, exciting way to do all that. These mini newspapers are perfect for kindergarten. They are colored. Short. Full of pictures and a great way to introduce non-fiction reads into the classroom. Scholastic News not only provides high-quality nonfiction text, but also pencil and paper activities, early-learning skills like vocabulary, movement activities, and critical thinking questions; and reading fundamentals, such as reading skills, concepts of print, sight words, and phonics. The kindergarteners will have so much fun learning about animals, planets, social skills, etc. that they won't even realize they're working!
