Can you imagine a World History class without a world map? My classroom currently has a small 24"x36" map that I purchased, and without it, World History wouldn't have a map. Because understanding location is essential to the successful study of world history, a large world map displayed at the front of the class would vastly improve my students' education of world history. My students currently struggle with grasping space and location, especially in the context of world history. Though the map itself will not teach students skills, I will be able to utilize the map as a visual aid to help students understand the location and context of events, countries, and people. A classroom map is a basic essential to effectively teaching and studying world history and AP world history. My students deserve to have this essential element to their world history course, and will benefit immensely from it!
