By making learning hands on and social, students gain their own understandings of the concepts being taught. For example, in math they may discover a strategy for addition they can share with the class. Phonemic awareness and phonological awareness are areas my students need the greatest amount of instruction. Playing games regarding skills that have been explicitly will help them gain master which builds strong readers. Especially those with dyslexia. Colorful games are more engaging and equitable for all students as they master skills, discover strategies and learn vocabulary that will help them flourish.
