In our astronomy unit, students learn about the advances in technology that allow us to explore ever increasing amounts of space and increase accuracy and precision of the data collected. Often the information is presented in text and video. However, I find this to be a perfect chance to bring science alive! By designing, building, and testing their own rockets, students can connect engineering, space science, and physics in a meaningful and engaging way. This idea came from my week spent at the Honeywell Educator Space Academy in Huntsville, Alabama. I have gained knowledge of rocketry, computer programming, and engineering. I would love to share this experience with my students.
