My first grade students love to read unfortunately, our classroom library is lacking good quality nonfiction texts that is at their reading level. My school does not have a school library so it's very important to me to provide quality books in my own classroom library. Nonfiction books help students learn more about the world around them. My students come from a low income, inner city environment where they don't have books at home and rarely leave the city to see and explore our world. Books can give students the opportunity to explore and learn more about our world from our classroom. My students will use these leveled, nonfiction books to gather and interpret new information at a reading level that is perfect for each individual so they can feel successful.
