My middle school science students do not have access to workbooks and textbooks. Instead, they learn science content through teacher-led lessons. I'm requesting funding for supplies (glue sticks, scissors, pencil sharpener, highlighters and colored pencils) so that students can take notes in interactive science notebooks. A class set of glue sticks, scissors, highlighters and colored pencils will be divided for each lab bench. Students will be provided with guided notes, diagrams, and foldables. They will use the requested supplies to cut out these resources, and glue them into their notebook. They will then use colored pencils and highlighters to annotate the text and complete diagrams/graphs. Interactive science notebooks teach students executive functioning while ensuring that all learners are mastering science content because it allows students to use kinesthetic, visual, and auditory processing. My students need the requested supplies to be able to create their year-long science notebooks. My science budget has been drastically cut in the past year. Without the help of generous donors, we can not afford even the most basic supplies. Please help me get my students the supplies we need for a successful science program.
