The pandemic we are in the midst of has created so many challenges for schools and families. Not only has it increased our dependency on technology due to mandates that have forced us to teach virtually, but it has also increased the unhealthy sedentary lifestyle of many Americans. Adding a standing desk in my classroom is one small enhancement that will greatly improve my students' ability to learn. By donating to our project, you will be supporting higher levels of engagement in my classroom and also promoting a healthier lifestyle among little ones. Research shows there are many benefits to standing while working. For example, it increases the heart rate and helps students pay more attention. It also enhances decision making skills because students are able to understand and choose where they learn best. Adding a standing student desk will increase ownership and choice in our classroom because they will demonstrate responsible behavior choices to prove they want the opportunity to learn there and be excited for their friends when it is their turn.
