In third grade students spend a lot of time at the rug, gathered together for group instruction. It would be so beneficial to have an organized classroom rug to gather at to prepare for instruction. The colored squares would be perfect to practice personal space, staying in their own personal bubble during instruction. Many students are working on personal space and have difficulty managing their space. This takes away from their learning, and the learning of others. It would be great for them to see how much personal space is their own with the colored square, and maintaining their personal space. Then there would be less interruptions and more time focused on learning.
