When students write their reflections at the end of the year, one of their most memorable moments is when they are able to dissect different organisms and actually have hands-on experience exploring the different systems within. The Biology course I teach is students only opportunity on campus to get hands on experience with the anatomy of living organisms. The students range in grade level from freshman to juniors and the majority of my students are English Language Learners. One class in particular is 60% English Language Learners and 40% Special Education students. Exposure to body systems helps our students understand their own body and provides a memorable experience they will remember well after they have graduated from high school.
