A variety of high quality literature will help students develop important reading strategies. A classroom library should consist of books that cater to a range of reading levels and interests. Chapter book series tend to hook students and encourage them to continue reading. When students become interested in a particular author or series, they are more likely to read more books. Having these book sets will allow students to take part in a Reader's Workshop model in which they can independently read every day. These grade appropriate books will also give students the opportunity to write about their reading and construct further meaning.
