The more students read, the more successful they will be in all discipline areas. I believe having high-interest novels is key to students reading independently beyond the classroom walls. I want to create a community of life long readers that will ideally instill a passion for reading post graduation. I give students independent reading time on a daily basis, as well as giving book talks daily. Having the books I highlight in class readily accessible for students will allow them to begin reading when their interest is at a peak level. I also like to have multiple copies available for students to create their own book discussion groups.
