My students are in a behavior focused classroom and are in grades K-5. They receive all academic, social, emotional and behavioral instruction in my classroom. I have students that deal with multiple challenges in addition to behavior such as, learning disabilities, autism, and intellectual disabilities. Many of them have experienced some kind of trauma and/or come from a lower socioeconomic status. For many of my students school has not been a positive experience which often makes engaging these students in learning a challenge. However, often times we see improvement both in academics and behavior when our students have the opportunity to explore their passions.
