Imagine creating an object in a virtual environment and then actually printing it out to be held in your hands! Students can create virtual models and then print them out to use as parts of other projects in other academic classes. Through the use of the engineering design process, students learn how to create objects of their own designs and create them in a virtual environment such as SketchUp or TinkerCad. After hearing so many comments of, "Mr. Brooks, would you print me... 'something'", my answer would be "No, but I can teach you how to make something that can be printed." My students need additional filament for their own designed 3D projects.
