The simple supplies I am requesting will help the scholars have a hands-on approach to learning another language. With the headphones, students will be able to listen to authentic French podcasts, videos, and radio stations in the classroom. This will allow them to use me as a resource, as resources are limited elsewhere. With the colored paper and printer, scholars will be able to create and display projects that are related to the real world. Scholars become engaged and eager to learn when they can adapt and apply their learning. They also feel accomplished when their hard work is rewarded by being showcased! Their projects include many pictures and sometimes printing them in black and white just doesn't do them any justice! Therefore, I would love to display them in color! Having their French autobiographies, cell phone text threads, and celebrity interviews posted all over the school will create a sense of ownership and pride in learning a foreign language. The admiration and interest from their peers will hopefully start to inspire language learning, something that is often lacked in middle school. Lastly, the expo markers will help students collaborate when using their personal whiteboards. Our whiteboards allow the scholars to write sentences in color, underline and circle parts of speech, and make corrections immediately, if needed. Students have a chance to travel with their boards and work in teams. Whiteboard markers help the teacher facilitate vocabulary games, partner interviews, and much more! Going beyond paper and pencil helps engages all scholars to participate and have fun while learning!
