Everyday my students ask for books that are more relatable to them. One Crazy Summer, Push, and Chains: Seeds of America are novels that were chosen to be specific to their preferences. The Amazon Fire tablets and teacher guide are specifically for students who struggle tremendously with reading fluency and decoding, as well as students with dyslexia. "My project will help my students to find a love for reading and gain access they have not had before." I would like to expose these students to rich, well-written literature that describes neighborhoods and people whom they will find familiar. Making these connections will encourage these students to engage with reading. The addition of technology would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening and speaking. These skills are transferable and will help them now and forever.
