My students need 5 iPads and flexible seating to meet their unique individual needs. Using iPads in the classroom allows children to listen to books in English which in return increases listening and reading comprehension making children feel confident. Having the access to multiple iPads allows me to differentiate and customize learning. I meet the needs of each unique learning style by downloading appropriate apps and educational resources. My students need direct instruction in letter formation, phonics, letter names, letter sounds and concepts of print as well us number sense and number relationships. Guided instruction and the use of iPads are the key to enhancing individualized instruction.
Technology will allow all of my children to communicate with each other regardless of language. However, I am limited with the supply of technology at my school At the moment we have one desktop computer in our classroom and a computer cart to be shared weekly among 8 teachers. There are no iPads or portable technology for my students to access. This funded project will provide iPads for my students and allow them immediate access to learning. Technology is the way of our century and a key component for literacy success.
