I created my project and request for materials with the idea of improving and redesigning my classroom learning environment to optimize the usage of classroom square footage and student learning styles. I wanted students to have as many options as possible and choices for creating their best learning environment. The flexible seating I am requesting consists of standing desks and stools. I have found that students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their learning environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work, how they work, and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed in my small classroom to create an optimal learning space.
