The art materials will take my students on a journey, as they bring their creations to life. They will go beyond two-dimensional pieces, where they can explore and express what they see and feel, through the use of a variety of media. Painting is something that we want to be able to do this year, so the brushes and palettes are a necessity. The drying racks will allow our paintings to dry properly without getting damaged. The wires, metal beads, twisteez, pipe cleaners, and pony beads will be used to create sculptures in grades K-5. It's not about the end result, it's truly about the journey. It's through that connection, that we are moved as artists, and as art enthusiasts. Art allows my students the opportunity to find their voice, to be seen and heard, without the standardized constraints of accuracy. Mathematician? Scientist? Author? According to Merriam-Webster; an artist is a person who creates art. Therefore, we are all artists. For some students, this is their opportunity to shine. Let's put a spotlight on these artists and showcase their strengths.
