I have used these magazines years ago and they were amazing! They have since added more online content. My students will be connected to science that is current and extremely relevant to their lives. It can even spark interest in their homes about the science topics because of the fact that they will have full access to all of the content from anywhere with internet access. The kids were always so excited to see what was contained in each new bi-weekly issue.
These magazines are closely tied to the Next Generation Science Standards and they provide extremely current information about topics within all branches of science. I will be using them to introduce and reinforce content throughout the year. We can read and discuss articles as a group, watch short videoclips about them that are embedded in the online version, or conduct virtual labs that are presented online in connection with the articles. They always include various ways of presenting data using graphs and charts as well as incredible pictures and graphics. The authors always do a wonderful job of making the information relatable to young boys and girls. There is almost certainly something in each issue that will capture their unique interests!
