Students will be able to read works by authors of color, as well as books which highlight LGBTQ issues and issues of diversity which reflects their own lives. We want our students to be able to build relationships with their teachers, and for teachers to understand where their students are going, but more importantly, where they are coming from. These books will help them do that. The future educators will be serving diverse students and guiding them through learning and development as educators, with an ability to show empathy and understanding.
