The supplies requested in this project will provide my students with a more engaging and comfortable learning environment. I have plans for every item requested. For example, the dry erase markers and erasers will be used with the class set of dry erase board/clip boards adding to student engagement and encouraging students to utilize the flexible seating options while working. Due to a variety of special needs in the classroom, slant boards will support the writing needs of many different students. Flexible seating options such as the requested recliner and pillows will support learners who may find it difficult to sit at a desk in a traditional chair. In a digital society driven my social media, it is important for students to learn what is appropriate to post on the internet. To gain appropriate digital citizenship skills, students will participate in a year-long activity of a mock class Instagram. By using the Polaroid Instant Print Camera, students will learn to take and post pictures while supporting and instilling our classroom rules of being responsible, respectful and safe. All requested materials will provide for authentic learning experiences as well as providing a safe and comfortable learning environment, which most of my students do not have when they leave school. The high-poverty area poses many challenges for the students and the materials requested will help them feel comfortable and teach them important skills that will be needed as they move into middle school.
