I believe the things in my cart will help my class in many ways. Things like: bean bag chairs, Melissa sets, leapfrog numbers and letter magnets, Legos and other building blocks, a sensory table and the materials to go with it (like sand, small treasures to dig out, digging tools), cups, and toothbrushes. I have students that are in wheels chairs and don't have the ability to sit in regular class chairs, have bean bags give me the option to take them out of the wheel chair for periods of the day. The Melissa learning sets are things to help teach how to prepare food and learning about parts of the body. These are important to teach my class to they can try to become more independent; and having a fun hands on way for them to do that helps keep them interested in learning. The leapfrog magnets are little machines that when you place a letter or number on it will say what each on is aloud to the student. I have one of these in my room now and my lower learning students love it. Having more would help with sharing. At the end of class we have free time and my high level students absolute love to build, this is why I selected building toys. I feel like these are great to have because it gets them thinking and making them creative. Hygiene is another thing we teach, each morning after breakfast my students brush their teeth. In class we have a water dispenser and I bring juice. I normally use solo cups, having reusable cups would be great. A sensory table would be amazing for my students that have sensory needs. Getting over whelmed; they can work to calm themselves.
