Books are the most important tools when teaching students, particularly when teaching them a second language. As someone who learned English at the age of 16, I understand the importance of books in my personal language development, and I want to award my students with the same experience. In a dual language classroom, reading is an essential component to help students continue to develop their native language while learning a second language. For this to happen, I need help creating for my students a classroom library with age and level appropriate books in different genres that they can enjoy throughout the year. In my classroom, I strive to create an atmosphere where children are excited to learn through reading, but that is impossible to do without the appropriate and necessary resources. My students will use the books that have been chosen for this project during their independent reading time. All the books selected are in Spanish and will help both my native Spanish speakers and my native English speakers who are learning Spanish.
