Great readers can learn to do anything. Because we are a new school building, we have to phase out all of our furniture that doesn't match the supply cupboards on the wall. That means that my bookcases that I have used for years have to go. Children need classroom libraries with a variety of books to choose from. Mark Twain once said, "The man who does not read good books is no better than the man who can't." It is my goal to help my students make the transition from learning to read to reading to learn as well as helping them explore various genres to find good fit books for them as individuals. It is much easier to find the right book when it's organized on a shelf, then more time can be spent on reading itself.
