My students face a lot of adversity, and I strive every day to ensure that their learning environment isn't another road block to their success. Flexible seating has been a huge asset to my students, because it enables them to feel comfortable and be more engaged, which in turns leads to higher academic success.
Third grade is an important year, because 75% of children who aren't reading on grade level by the end of the year, never will read on grade level. Small group instruction is proven to help close that gap and gives students the best chance of academic success.
I have incorporated many flexible seating options into my classroom for students to utilize during independent work and group time, but flexible seating in my small groups has been virtually nonexistent. Wobble Chairs for my small group table would foster a more developmentally appropriate small group learning.
These chairs allow for slight movement - something that is very important when you're 8 and 9 years old - and will help my students stay focused during those critical small group times.
I want to give my students the world. I supply snacks, school supplies, and love on a daily basis. This year, I am striving to give them all of those things as well as provide them with the most comfortable and developmentally appropriate learning environment possible. I truly appreciate your consideration in helping me achieve that goal.
