These materials will be used to give options for students for working in the classroom. Many of my students work best when standing up or sitting on the floor. Wobble chairs and floor cushions will provide options for my students to learn the best way they can! Research has shown that students need to be given options for seating. Not all students learn best when sitting at your "typical desk" but learn better and can focus more when standing up or sitting on the floor. My students with high energy would be able to sit in our new Hokki stools and keep their minds engaged while their bodies stay active. The stools would allow for them to move in their seats, instead of a teacher telling them to always sit still. Ideally, I would like all of my students to be able to use these stools to keep their minds engaged, but for now, the 5 stools would be used at a reading table during guided reading and math centers. I hope that by providing options for them, they will be more successful! The funding of this project will make a major difference in my classroom environment!
