Located in the heart of northwest Denver, Skinner Middle School serves a diverse population of capable, ambitious, spirited kids. In 8th grade language arts, we focus on building reading and writing skills as tools of empathy and empowerment. We read stories and texts to learn about complex challenges of the past, present, and future - and to discover the incredible strength of the human spirit. We write to express our personal experiences, views, and voices in order to contribute toward shaping a more just society. Through lessons that incorporate poetry, analysis, argument and more, by immersing ourselves in rich texts, we strive together to reach a better understanding of ourselves and our world. And we have fun doing it!
