Unfortunately, most of the lower level literature currently available to my special needs students is outdated and does not engage them in reading. By providing my students with a leveled classroom library, they can have a fun and inviting place for them to come and find books they are interested in and can actually read on their own. I need to enrich my bookshelves so that each student can find books to read that they have not already read. Having access to high interest reading materials for independent reading will help my students to not only learn and apply the reading skills that they are struggling with, but it will also encourage them to read more which is important for struggling learners.
