Students will greatly benefit from the fun and learning that these tools will provide. These tools will help provide the practice and motivation that my students need to develop their fine motor skills and engage in learning. The car scissors guide will motivate students to practice cutting skills that are often challenging as it requires the ability to open and close the scissors, line up the scissors for accuracy and turn the paper to stay on the line. Using the manipulatives and tools such as the tongs, scoops, and stringing beads will help strengthen their hands, improve their eye-hand coordination and help them improve their fine motor skills. This will improve their ability to button their shirt, zip their jacket, and write their letters. Play is the best method for learning for little children. These tools will help them to develop their skills through play. Tools such as the fishing poles are very motivating for children. Once they "catch" a sight word they will write it on the dry erase boards. This is a fun way for them to practice writing words that they need to use in their reading and writing on a daily basis. Games such as the Squeeze, Scoop and Count assist the child with hand strengthening, eye-hand coordination while picking up items all which help with manipulating fasteners on their clothes and completing tasks that require two hands such as cutting and coloring. It also will incorporate counting so they are improving their math skills. The Create and Design Drill kit and the Following Directions games will be enjoyed by the children, but it will also help them with their ability to copy information from the board. The fun and learning goes on and on!
