I believe everyone is discussing how House Bill 7069 has negatively effect public Title I schools. This bill has taken a large amount of funding from public schools and are being allocated to support charter schools. Just like other Title I schools in America, my students are suffering from this bill. Funding that was used in the past for textbooks, composition notebooks, and folders is no longer available and supplies are extremely scarce! Although resources are limited and my students do not have access to supplies that are normally given to them at the beginning of the school year, I refused to use this bill as an excuse for why my students are not able to meet state standards. It's true we have to work twice as hard because of lack funding and limited resources but as a group of community learners we are definitely up for the challenge! I am asking for a class set of supplies including 3 Chromebooks, copy paper, pencils, and crayons to assist my students for a challenging school year. Having extra technology in my classroom will give my students access to our math computer program called Tenmarks. This program is used to assign additional assignments for common core standards. My students will receive additional instruction online and have access to our intervention program i-Ready Math. i-Ready Math is an individualized program that is used for progress monitoring to determine the level each student is currently working on and track their growth during the school year. Lastly, I am asking for supplies so my students will be able to complete their seatwork, create projects and maintain tolerance during the school year.
