I have been slowly working to purchase flexible seating options over the last couple of years. My goal is to have enough options for each child in the class to have a choice. These seats would be available all day for students to utilize; whole group lessons, small reading groups, partner work, independent activities, etc. The students will have a choice on which seat would help them best learn during that activity/lesson. One size does not fit all! The desk and chairs that the children are expected to be at all day long are uncomfortable and do not account for the variety of learning styles, preferences, accommodations or modifications some students need. Allowing students the ability to choose a seat that works best for them is giving children ownership over themselves and their education as well as teaching them responsibility.
