The lessons and activities that take place on the carpet are an essential component to my kindergarten students' learning experience. Each day, we start our literacy and math lessons as a group at the front of the classroom. These activities, along with calendar and story time, help build a strong and caring classroom community and help focus students' attention. A carpet with clearly defined seating areas will help my kindergarten students know where to sit so that they can focus best on the lessons and activities. It will also decrease the amount of time taken for redirection and making sure students are in their "own space". This carpet will be so helpful to the classroom environment for years to come. A carpet with clearly defined seating areas will be a great asset to my classroom. There will be less time taken for redirecting students on where they need to sit, thus giving more time for learning.
