Technology has always been a component of scientific advancement, whether it is a pencil to communicate thoughts or a spectrometer to collect astronomical data. With current technology at their fingertips, my students are able to access and engage in the scientific community at a higher level than before. Let's just make sure it's in a safe manner. 2017-2018 is the first year my students received a district-issued Chromebook, so I want to create a safe learning environment for them to combine the power of the laptop with the data collecting probe-ware available in order to communicate scientific thought. In order to do this safely and to protect the school equipment, students (and the school!) will benefit from having their computers up on the tabletop desks, away from accidental chemical spills on our chemistry lab stations. Students can also use the risers as a standing desk or combine it with the stool to give a better height screen than normal table height in my flexible seating classroom. Finally, the laptop stands give students the choice of height for using their laptops while keeping the air flow constant through the machine.
