Scope magazines contain an enormous amount of nonfiction articles. My students are in need of experiencing more nonfiction. The standardized testing in Pennsylvania has added more nonfiction selections to the PSSAs. The students get excited when the SCOPE magazines arrive each month because they love to read the articles. Besides being colorful and interesting, it is easy for students to connect with the articles. The subject matter is current and relevant to the audience-young adults. Finally, as a teacher, Scope is a treasure. With each issue is an abundance of teacher materials for every selection. The materials are easily accessed on the Scholastic/SCOPE website. If something makes my job easier and makes my students want to read, I couldn't be happier.
